For those who are staying in Fez but have limited time, our express tour to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi is the perfect solution. This spectacular saharan landscape is a must-see for anyone visiting Morocco.
After breakfast your driver will meet you in Fez. We will travel towards Todra Gorge, passing through Ifrane, the quaintest small town in north Africa, built by the French in the 1930s in Swiss village style. Continue crossing the middle Atlas through cedar forest; we stop near Azrou to see the monkeys and also to take some pictures. We pass through many Berber villages. Lunch will be in an apple village called Midelt. We continue through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the landscapes until we reach Todra Gorge around sunset. Dinner and overnight in a nice hotel in the valley.
After breakfast we will have a walk in Todra Gorge before we take the road to Merzouga, crossing the Ziz Valley through Tinjdad and Erfoud. We stop in Rissani for lunch in a nice traditional restaurant for the famous local Moroccan pizza. Once we depart Rissani we’ll start to feel the beginning of the true Saharan landscape. You’ll reach Merzouga before the sunset at a traditional riad near the Dunes of Erg Chebbi. After a little mint tea, your guide and camels will be waiting for you to travel across the sand dunes. Enjoy the beauty of the sunset, as you journey to the desert camp. After a wonderful dinner and a campfire, spend the night under the stars or in a traditional Berber nomad tent.
Wake up early in morning to enjoy the sunrise on the top of the dunes in the Desert. After these beautiful moments, you will ride your camel back to the hotel where you can shower and enjoy breakfast. Today we journey back to Fez. The tour concludes in the evening when we drop you off at a location of your choosing in Fez.
