Our overnight Camel Trekking in Morocco is an experience you will never forget and one which we hope will bring something unique to your adventure. Bereber Excursion offers a Desert Tour beginning at Merzouga Village and venturing into the heart of Morocco’s largest dunes, Erg Chebbi. The experience includes traditional music and drumming, excellent cuisine and sleeping in the desert beneath a stunning canopy of stars in our traditional nomadic camp!
This tour begins in evening at a hotel near the sand dunes. The camels will be packed with food, blankets and everything else we will need. The trek will proceed into the desert for 1:30min. We will spend the night in an equipped camp with drum music in the middle of the Sahara. There are great opportunities for photography. When we arrive at the camp we walk to the high dunes to see the sunset. It will be a magical night if the sky is clear and stars sparkle and shine with intensity. During the first night, there will be a wonderful dinner around a campfire. We will spend the night in nomad tents. In the morning we will ride the camels back to Merzouga, where breakfast and a shower will await you at the hotel.
This trip begins in afternon, we organise the camel ride for the night in desert from a hotel near the sand dunes, The camels will be packed with foods, blankets and everything else which we will need. The trek will start right into the desert for 1:30min, We will spend the night in an equipped camp with drum music in the middle of the Sahara. This is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise, when we arrive at the camp we walk to the high dunes to see the sunset. During the first evening, there will be a wonderful dinner around a campfire, and we will spend the night in nomad tents.
The next day after breakfast in the camp we will ride the camels to pay a visit and have lunch with nomad peoples. After lunch and a bit of time to relax with the nomad peoples, we will ride the camels back to the camp. When we reach the camp, we leave the camels and enjoy a little sandboarding on some of the higher dunes. We and also visit a oasis in the dunes walk back to the camp after sunset.
Early the next morning we will ride the camel back to Merzouga after sunrise. You’ll have breakfast and a shower in the hotel in Merzouga.
Depending on arrival time to Merzouga, this trip begins after a leisurely lunch. Camels are loaded with food, blankets and all the effects needed for this trip that will take us through the desert. This route will allow you to discover a small oasis hidden in the dunes where we spend the night. If we are lucky and the weather is clear we can enjoy a starry night. During the first night, and after a good dinner, spend some time around the campfire. In the morning we will have a good breakfast before travelling almost 2 hours to reach our next destination. We will stop for a half hour lunch under the shade of a Tamariz, a typical desert tree. After lunch, we will continue our journey to a Touareg family where we spend the night and interact with them. The next morning, after breakfast with the family, we will move to another small oasis located in the desert where the next camp is inhabited by a nomadic Berber family. There ia below and after breakfast, return to the village and hotel. On this tour assumes an average of 90 minutes to two hours or walk in single file, or camel ride every day.
The Sunset tour begins around 5:30pm. It takes almost half an hour to reach the sand dunes of Erg chebbi on top a camel. Then, we will leave the camels in about 80 meters to reach the highest dune of Merzouga. For those who want to see a panoramic view they must climb to the top, it will takes them another 10 minutes. If you prefer not to hike up the highest dunes, the area around the camel “parking” is perfect to watch the sunset. After having enjoying that short time we travel back to the village. This tour includs a stop at the garden where you will have a short explanation about the canal system.
The Sunrise Tour starts early as it takes 35 minutes to reach the highest dune of Merzouga. This tour also includes a visit to the garden on the way back. For this tour you don’t need to set the alarm clock. Enjoy your night and we will come around for a wake-up call.
The bus (Supratours) departs from Marrakech daily at 8.00 morning and arrives at Merzouga around 21:00.
The bus (supratours) departs from Fes daily at 19:00 at night and arrives in Merzouga at 06:00 the next morning.
